Training for Power-lifting
Power-lifting, often confused with Olympic lifting, is an individualized sport in which competitors attempt to lift as much weight as possible for one repetition in the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Each lifter is placed into a specific division and classified by several variables including weight class, age group,
and experience level. Further subdivisions are made between what is known as “raw” and “geared” power-lifters, indicating whether or not the individual is wearing supportive equipment during the competition.
Competitions are generally all-day events that begin with the squat, progress to the bench press, and conclude with the deadlift. Every lifter is allowed three attempts at each lift, making for a total of nine competitive lifts throughout the day.
To summarize, Power-lifting is a strength sport that consists training of the 3 big lifts i.e. Squat, Bench press and Deadlift. The training program for power-lifting teaches the basic fundamentals of the big 3, along with accessory workouts that complement the training.
The goal is help the person learn how to make healthy food choices, instead of going on a “diet” and creating a negative perception of food.Nutritional counselling will vary according to each person’s unique health goals and needs.
Weight loss is a major part of the nutritional counselling, since many health problems can be minimized or brought into remission by simply losing weight. Case in point, when diabetics lose 5-10% of their weight,
blood sugar levels immediately see an improvement. All kinds of lifestyle problems such as Hypertension, Diabetes, PCOS, insulin resistance can all be taken care with food and exercise.
Nutrition counselling is actually a journey that we start and stay on as we grow
in our knowledge of healthy eating.
Strength and Conditioning Training
Strength and Conditioning training is a method of focused training with the individual or athlete’s goal in mind. It works on improving the strength of muscle, force generation capacity, power, speed, agility and endurance. The program includes training with free weights, machines, person’s own body
weight and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).
The program covers aspects such as strength, hypertrophy, muscle endurance, power, cardiovascular endurance, HIIT, speed and agility along-with prehab (dynamic warm-ups, stretching and foam rolling to prime and prepare the body) and flexibility training.
Pilates exercises train several muscle groups at once in smooth, flowing and continuous movements. By developing proper form, breathing, posture and alignment, you can actually re-train your body to move in safer, more efficient patterns of motion – invaluable for injury recovery, sports performance, good
posture and optimal health. It’s a refreshing mind-body workout that de-stresses the mind while developing a strong core, flat abdomen and a strong back.
It helps you gain long, lean muscles and flexibility and teaches you how to move efficiently
